Bold Blogging Prediction #1

Psycho Analysis Tools Are Created & Used On Bloggers

Unfortunately, this is going to lead to some regrets for some.

With potentially years of personal expressions laid out for the world to see, I anticipate the creation of tools that can essentially take a ream of blog text and create a very specific psychological profile of an individual.

Think of it like an SAT for your personal brand.

In the way that forward-looking professionals are mindful of their results on Google, in the future I expect that various mechanisms of "scoring" will be created. In some cases this label will be a positive reinforcements for an individual's personal brand, in other cases I expect it could be very damaging and ultimately, difficult to escape from short of modifying your identity.

What are some attributes that could be scored?

- Language skills
- Personality profile
- Responses to stresses
- IQ
- EQ (emotional intelligence)
- Productivity and responsiveness in blogging
- Sophistication in analysis a given category (against peer benchmarks as a type of bell curve that can ascertain a level of sophistication of analysis or commentary)
- Moral views (liberal vs conservative)

The list could go on to include anything that we could reveal that would be important to anyone else, be that governments, employers, potential employers, etc.

These kinds of analysis and profiling are only limited to the level of sophistication of the tools and the imagination of the people using them.

I don't this is at all far-fetched. Personality profiling can be done with relatively few questions. It's not a stretch to believe that a very sophisticated profile could emerge from analyzing an individual's blog over time.

I think much more could be said and speculated about, but it's safe to say that I think bloggers should be mindful of what they are blogging about, what they are revealing in their blogs (on a variety of levels) and what the potential impact could be in future years.

Hey Derek. Well, now you have me worried. If you have been stopping by the IABC Café, you will have noted the discussion about "The Naked Communicator." So that means I'm starkers and someone might be reading my mind. Hmmm.
